Carved, Painted And Gilded Woodwork, 17th Century, De La Rodde And Dinet Families, Macon, Saône
An important piece of woodwork or a frame decorated with a coat of arms of alliance, supported by two lions and surmounted by a count's coronet.
The two coats of arms commemorate the marriage of Jeanne Philiberte de Dinet, born in Frangy-en-Bresse, to Louis de La Rodde, squire, lord of Charnay and Condé, Captain in the Picardy Regiment; the marriage was celebrated on January 20, 1666, in Mâcon, at the Church of Saint-Pierre.
The two oval shields are surrounded by a painted and gilded garland of leaves, a motif also found on the base of the decoration. Carved, painted, and gilded wood, mid-17th century.
Old restorations are visible on the back; some damage and losses.
