Very rich Regence-style ornamentation with sphinx-shaped corners (winged woman with lioness body), in the middle, upholstered lambrequin with woman mascaron.
Two very large closing ink cups with 3 putti in the middle. Signature VP and crown at their base.
The belly of this inkwell is adorned with ebony and pewter veneer marquetry (2 small pieces of pewter reported).
