Charles Schneider – Le Verre Français, Large “étoiles” Vase, Signed On The Base, Circa 1918–1921

A significant baluster-shaped vase with an elongated ovoid body, rounded shoulders, and a slightly flared neck, produced by the Schneider glassworks under the brand name Le Verre Français.

A multilayered glass piece featuring a milky white satin background, enlivened by pink and purplish filigree and powder inlays. The rotating design, etched with acid, features large stylized stars with long, tapered points, connected by thin, sinuous stems.

The layering of the glass creates a rich contrast between the opalescent background with its pink undertones and the violet-brown design, which is particularly pronounced on the shoulder and neck. Long vertical drips complement the slender shape and accentuate its graphic character.

Beneath the base, the vase bears the rare signature featuring a tricolor blue-white-red pyramid, characteristic of the early productions of the Le Verre Français line. This signature allows us to date its creation to between 1918 and 1921.

A very beautiful transitional piece between Art Nouveau and the early geometric explorations of Art Deco, remarkable for its great height, the balance of its silhouette, and the intensity of its colors.
