Carpenter's Compass.
This very large wrought iron compass isof a journeyman carpenter or stonemason.stonecutter. Intended for taking measurements, tracing curves or markingmarkers, these tools used by craftsmen were meticulouslywere carefully crafted. The one we offer has forgedforged tips, the corners are turned down, and the mid-lengtha curved and counter-curved motif at mid-length, and the hingeis adorned with an added motif that has unfortunately been amputatedof part of its decoration, probably a fleur-de-lys.
