Table Atelier Alinéa
A table emblematic of contemporary Swiss design, "Unistandard" model, designed by Ueli Biesenkamp for Atelier Alinea, Switzerland.
Initially created to equip the halls of the University of Bern, this table embodies a functional and structural approach to design, where technique becomes aesthetic language. It was the first element in the "Uni" range and today remains a benchmark in modular furniture.
The top is based on an innovative constructive principle: a trapezoidal aluminum sheet sandwiched between two thin panels (wood, linoleum or resin), ensuring both rigidity, lightness and dimensional stability. This system enables long lengths - up to around 4 meters - without recourse to a central base.
The base, in lacquered or chromed steel, is deliberately simple and legible. The whole adopts an "honest" aesthetic, characteristic of Swiss design: apparent structure, absence of ornamentation, primacy of function.
The base is deliberately simple and legible.
Modular, the table offers height adjustment (approx. 73-75 cm) and a wide variety of top finishes (birch, walnut, linoleum, laminate), enabling it to be adapted to both domestic and professional use.
