Sarah Kaliski Very Large Oil On Canvas
Artist: Sarah Kaliski (1941-2010)
Very large and beautiful oil on canvas by Sarah Kaliski
her work is present in many collections, including the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and the Jewish Museum of Belgium.
Trained at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts, Sarah Kaliski first expressed herself through painting, before devoting herself exclusively to drawing from the 1980s onwards, in order to produce an honest and exuberant graphic work, imbued with her personal wounds – including the loss of her father deported to Auschwitz – as well as with history and the figures of the twentieth century. The constitutive themes of his work cover the tortures inflicted by the Nazis, Belgian culture and identity, violence against children, women’s freedom, especially sexual freedom. In addition to paper, various media host tragic, fierce and strange representations of his siblings, children... Between sensual love scenes and romantic solitude, Sarah Kaliski always mixes suffering and pleasure, dreams and despair. She is represented by the Loeve&Co gallery (Paris).
