Pair Of Large Art Nouveau Dishes Jeanne d'Arc Royaliste 1899 Lunéville Earthenware X 28cm
Pair of Joan of Arc dishes in relief and gilded letters Lunéville 1899
Rare pair of decorative fine earthenware dishes from Keller & Guérin in Lunéville, signed L. Marchal, with Johannine decoration in a strong Art Nouveau spirit. It should be emphasized that these dishes are 28 cm in diameter, a much rarer format than the 20 cm presentation plates most often found in this series. Both pieces develop an iconography of stylized Joan of Arc, one as a helmeted warrior, the other as a young figure in profile, against a background of foliage and gothicizing inscriptions.
Good condition and presentation for early pieces. Please note: a few black firing spots, small enamel jumps, light wear and marks of time visible in the photos. Good overall appearance
