Stained Glass Window With Profiles (h165cm L111cm) Signed Henri Coulier
Pair of stained glass windows featuring antique profiles facing each other in medallions framed by red and blue fillets. The rest of the stained glass is composed of a mosaic of cives or bottle bottoms and rose-colored glasses, punctuated by 4 illustrated miniatures. In each miniature, Latin quotations that can be translated as "fortune is capricious, fortune is two-faced, and love is blind."
The stained glass windows are signed and dedicated: "to my friend G ROCHE, H COULIER, 1889". François Henry Coulier (1855-1909) was a glass painter in Paris, a member of the Chambre Syndicale des Maîtres Verriers, and published articles in the journal "Le Journal de la peinture sur verre". Two of his stained glass windows are in the Musée d'Orsay collections.
The black wooden frames are in perfect condition. Each panel measures H165cm W55.5cm with the wooden frame.
The panels have been entirely reassembled in lead in the traditional manner.Nineteenth century.
