Tecta edition, Germany, circa 1985
Chromed steel, sheet steel, dark blue and blue leather, plastic castors. Adjustable tilt
height. 90 x width. 70 x depth. 110 cm
Details:
Jean Prouvé made the D80 armchair known as Grand Repos in 1930 for his own private use. There is therefore only one copy in existence. Reissued by Tecta in 1985, it is part of a first limited edition of 1,000.
Based on Jean Prouvé's first preparatory sketch in 1930, this model was developed, produced and distributed under license from Tecta. This example is from the first series, in which the side panels were welded to the armrest supports and not - as in the production of later series - visibly screwed.
