Pair Of Silver-plated Bronze Candlesticks, 19th Century.
Elegant pair of armorial candlesticks, in silver-plated bronze, in the Louis XIV style.
Very decorative, they feature two arms of light richly decorated with delicately chased foliage, scrolls and gadroons. The shaft is embellished on all 4 sides with medallions featuring antique profiles, adding elegance and character. The widely flared circular base is decorated with a frieze in relief and engraved with a beautiful coat of arms stamped with a comtal crown, supported by two lions.
French workmanship of the highest quality. Ideal for a decoration with character, whether classical or modern, an elegant interior or a reception table.
A candlestick is signed "Eug. Bazart Paris".
Slight wear to the silver plating in some places.
PARIS , circa 1850-1880.
Eugène BAZART was a Parisian art bronzier active in the 19th century, mainly during the Napoleon III period circa 1850-1880. He belonged to a generation of craftsmen who produced high-quality furnishing bronzes at a time when Paris was the world center of decorative luxury.
