Large patinated bronze sculpture entitled "La pensée prenant son vol et portant la lumière" (Thought taking flight and carrying light) depicting an allegory personified as a naked man, standing on a cloud, his left arm and hand pointed skyward.
At its base, a book with with names of philosophers and a ribbon marked Fiat Lux.
This sculpture is of good size (63 cm high) and is very decorative.
Intaglio signature on the base E Picault, no founder's mark.
Late 19th century.
