Moorcroft Flamminian Red Glaze Vase For Liberty C. 1905
An early Moorcroft vase produced for Liberty & Co. during the Macintyre period, circa 1905, belonging to the Flamminian art pottery range.
The vase is decorated in a rich red glaze with strong tonal variation, and features three raised foliate roundels on the shoulder, formed as stylised leaf motifs beneath the glaze.
Flamminian wares emphasise glaze depth and structural decoration, distinguishing them from later painted Moorcroft designs.
William Moorcroft’s early work, widely retailed by Liberty and other leading firms, established his reputation within English art pottery.
The base bears a faint “Made for Liberty” mark, together with an incised number and signature. A well-preserved and visually strong example of this early Moorcroft type.
