Joseph Ulrich Danhauser (1780-1829)
Joseph Ulrich Danhauser was an Austrian cabinetmaker. He trained as a sculptor at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. In 1804, he founded one of the first interior design stores, offering all kinds of furniture as well as curtains, hangings and lighting fixtures. His workshop, which employed over a hundred workers, produced furniture based on his own designs, characterized by curved forms and abstract stylistic elements.
