Large Gilded Wood Mirror, Rich Provencal Rocaille Decoration, Styl
Important and spectacular finely carved and gilded wood mirror in the Louis XV style, featuring a remarkable rocaille décor entirely openwork on a pareclose work of great ornamental richness.
The framing, of a particularly eventful design, is composed of large scrolls, foliage scrolls and flowering branches treated with a very accomplished naturalism, evoking southern productions and more particularly the spirit of Provencal mirrors of the XVIII th century.
The composition is structured around an elegant pareclose arrangement, whose side mirrors accompany and extend the sinuous lines of the frame, accentuating the play of light and the depth of the whole.
The pediment, broadly developed and entirely openwork, forms a veritable sculptural crowning touch, while the base, scalloped and adorned with florets, ensures a beautiful balance to the composition.
Late 19th/early 20th century work in the taste of the 18th century, demonstrating refined decorative savoir-taire.
Antique gilding with a beautiful patina and warm nuances.
Antique glass with characteristic alterations and pitting, contributing to the object's charm.
