Altar Crucifix 18th Century
Eighteenth-century altar crucifix of Mediterranean origin from Italy or Spain.
It is composed of painted wood, mirrors and fixed under glass. Under the feet of the gilded lead Christ, traditionally skull and shins (Adam) symbolizing man's redemption from original sin, and flanked by two angels in flight. In a small painted wood niche with two columns on the front, Virgin and Child on a background of fixed under dark red glass with faux marble decoration. Two round marks around the Virgin, probably two columns that have now disappeared. On each side, the same two decorations painted under glass with accidents, see photos. Some mirror sections have certainly been replaced.
