Suite of two large flat-back caned armchairs stamped Cresson l'Aîné forming a false pair.
Whipstroke armrests carved with shells and acanthus leaves.
Cambered scrolled legs also surmounted by acanthus leaves.
These armchairs are stamped on both sides of the rear crosspiece.
René Cresson was awarded the title of Master on January 28, 1738, and came from a long line of chair joiners, all members of the same family.
He left behind very few works marked with his Cresson l'Aîné stamp.
