Wall-mounted glazed ceramic flower pot
Height: 27 cm
Wall-mounted flower pot in black glazed ceramic with metallic highlights. The back, reserved in bisque, is pierced by a suspension eyelet and bears the workshop stamp: CAPRON / VALLAURIS / FRANCE.
The body, ovoid in shape and resting on a foot, features a body decorated with horizontal bands of green enamel with matte effects, contrasting with the smooth upper curve. The truncated cone-shaped neck flares out slightly to form a pinched spout; a ribbon handle connects the shoulder to the neck.
The wall-mounted bouquetières with entirely black backgrounds and no polychrome decoration are rarer pieces in the workshop's production.
The object is in very good condition, with no chips. Slight lack of patina under the spout (see photos).
Born in 1922, Roger Capron trained at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris before moving to Vallauris in 1946. Founder of the Atelier Capron in 1952, he developed a resolutely modern formal vocabulary, which won him a gold medal at the Milan Triennale. Today, his work can be found in numerous public and private collections. He died in Vallauris in 2006.
