Description
Superb mirror with the flowing lines typical of the Second Empire, adorned with a refined décor of acanthus leaves, volutes and rocaille shells, inspired by the Louis XV style and reinterpreted with the decorative richness characteristic of the 19th century.
The original gilding, in very good condition, magnifies the relief of the decor and lends the whole an elegant luminosity. The fine openwork pediment perfectly illustrates the balance between opulence and refinement characteristic of the decorative taste of the Napoleon III reign.
This type of mirror once adorned bourgeois salons and private mansions in the second half of the 19th century, bringing radiance and depth to interiors.
The slightly bevelled glass is a testimony to high quality craftsmanship.
