In 1918, in the charming town of Pau, Edmond Valès, a French painter, was born. He was trained at the prestigious Ecoles des Beaux Arts in Nantes and Paris, and then became a pilot student within the American Air Forces during World War II. In this aerial adventure, he discovered not only the vertigo of heights but also the infinite expanses of creativity, which led him to the enchanting studios of Walt Disney. There, he refined his talent for animation and drawing, immersing himself in a universe where imagination comes to life.

In 1946, Edmond returned to French soil, but it was in Morocco, more precisely at the Poeymirau high school in Meknès, that he would truly settle down and share his knowledge. As a drawing teacher, he established himself in this country, which he came to know well and became a passionate ambassador for over thirty years. His passion and expertise made him an iconic figure, a beacon for young aspiring artists who, under his wing, learned to see the world with fresh eyes. In 1978, after forming unbreakable bonds with his students, he returned to France.

Valès distinguished himself with his exceptional gift for capturing the beauty of Moroccan landscapes, particularly those of Meknès and Tichka, as well as through his portraits marked by striking technical mastery. His sensitivity to the shimmering lights and vibrant colors of Morocco shines through in his works, where he poignantly immortalizes genre scenes and kasbahs with touching authenticity.

Throughout his career, the artist exhibited his creations in France and Morocco, earning honors and distinctions such as the title of Commander of Arts and Letters and Officer of the Academic Palms. These recognitions bear witness to his invaluable contribution to artistic culture, with his works finding their place in numerous private collections, including in the United States, where his talent is universally praised.

It was in the year 2001 that Edmond Valès passed away.
