Pair of five-armed, crystal and gilt-bronze hot-air balloon appliques, early 19th century.

The appliques are distinguished by their elegant hot-air balloon shape, created by the rows of crystal pendants and the quality of the finely chiseled gilt-bronze parts. The band supporting the five candlestick arms is adorned with a refined motif of bunches of grapes and vine leaves running the length of the candlesticks, while the arms feature plant motifs and the candlesticks feature a knurled finish.
The crystal pendants are attached at the top to a ring finely decorated with a chiseled pattern of laurel branches held by two intertwined bundles.
The back of the sconces is also noteworthy, embellished with a finely chiseled gilt-bronze lyre-shaped element and a large palmette at the bottom.
The lyre is meticulously decorated: composed of two arms with plant and animal elements, it features a sound box with a small festoon of laurel leaves and a floral ornament, while the crosspiece features two volutesPeriod: 19th century
