Small pewter baluster-shaped wine PICHET with short foot, stepped pouring spout, raised flat-top lid and "coquille" poucier.
Jean-Baptiste VRIZET hallmark:
1°- in clear:
2°- giraffe / GB VRIZET.
Nicholas VRIZET hallmark: maintained rose / N.V.
VALENCIENNES hallmark in clear.
Stamped inventory mark: L*PO*.
Height: 16.8 cm.

Jean-Baptiste settled in Valenciennes in 1827, it is plausible that his relative Nicolas took over the workshop in 1853 or joined it as their two hallmarks are juxtaposed on this pitcher
In perfect condition and acquired patina. Certainly has rarely been cleaned.
This region of northern France made virtually no small jugs. This one, bearing an inventory mark was probably used as a "ration jug" in a religious or hospitable community.
