Margaret Fisher Prout (London, 1875-1963), daughter of academic painter Mark Fisher R.A., trained at the Slade School of Art (1894-1897) and later taught at the Hammersmith School of Arts and Crafts. A recognized figure in English Impressionist painting of the early 20th century.

Signed and dated lower left. Oil on canvas, framed in carved gilded wood.
