Firefighter Helmet Model 1845/52, France Second Empire
Brass firefighter's crest helmet, model 1845/52, Second Empire period.
Superb front plate adopted in 1852, featuring a crowned imperial eagle with lightning bolts on a radiant sun and flags background. It bears a banner with the inscription: "Srs Pompiers Dévouement" ("Dedicated Firefighters").
High crest decorated with gadroons and a flaming grenade. It is topped by a large original black horsehair "chenille".
Mobil front visor adorned with two crossed sapper's axes.
Brass chinstraps decorated with stylized scales mounted on leather. They are fastened at the front by two fabric cords.
Original leather interior.
Original red horsehair plume.
Very good overall condition. Small knocks hardly visible, chinstrap fastening cords replaced.

Plume height: 23 cm.
