This prestigious object has two functions : a customary function consisting of using it as a dish during ceremonial rites, but also as an object of exchange between the tribes of the Tami and Siassi islands and the tribes of other islands or the coasts of the mainland. Engraved tribal drawings evoking ancestors and totemic animals (fish, birds). Exceptional piece for its size and the finesse of its carvings. Interior bleached by use (traces of sago flour).
