Late 18th Century Painting With A Battle Scene
Artist: Karl Ludwig Reuling
Oil painting on wooden canvas, accompanied by a carved and gilded wooden frame, decorated with geometric and floral motifs. In the center, the scene depicts a battle, with two main characters facing each other brandishing swords on two horses; at their feet is a frightened character, lying on the ground, while on the left side a third fighter has fallen together with his horse. In the background, other characters engaged in battle can be glimpsed. The compositionis distinguished by great realism, typical of the late Baroque style, with a skillful use of chiaroscuro and a very fine detailed rendering. At the bottom, there is the signature of the Viennese painter Karl Ludwig Reuling, accompanied by the date 1765, thus attributing this work to the second half of the 18th century.
