It captures a physical tension that seems to herald an imminent revelation or prophecy. The body is articulated by a complex, serpentine form, the torso twisting in a dramatic contortion that inherits the expressiveness of the Hellenistic masters, recalling the agony and dynamism of works such as the Laocoön.
