Charles X period commode in maple and ebonized pearwood (circa 1820). A beautiful Charles X period commode in maple with a warm and highly decorative hue, highlighted by ebonized wood framing (cabinetmaking). The front features: one drawer in the frieze and three large drawers. The ornamentation is understated yet elegant, including: original keyhole escutcheons, carved side handles, and framing typical of the period. The original veined gray marble top adds a touch of classic bourgeois elegance. The proportions are harmonious and typical of Restoration furniture. Dimensions: H 101 x W 128 x D 62 cm. Condition: Good overall condition, generally well preserved. Some minor wear/normal marks. Sound interior. Locks and keys present, circa 1820 (authentic). Beautiful, well-defined burl wood.
