Important Art Deco Lacquer Panel Depicting A White Cat On A Red Persian Rug, Khao Manee, Thailand

Mysterious, fascinating, and mystical are the adjectives to describe this cat with heterochromatic eyes on its Persian rug.
The cat's whiteness against the red background is striking; the artist has clearly produced a significant work of sculpture and lacquer, and has signed it with their monogram in the lower right corner.
The cat's eyes appear heterochromatic; in Thailand, these white cats are called Khao Manee, meaning "white jewel." Generally, a white cat is considered lucky and a symbol of happiness and prosperity, as in China, for example.
The cat's eyes are inlaid with gold particles.
It likely dates from the 1950s and incorporates the techniques and styles of Art Deco lacquer masters such as Jean Dunand.
