Ferrier And Soulier Glass Plate Stereo View "the Alhambra, Granada" C.1875 Photograph
Artist: Ferrier & Soulier
A very fine stereoscopic glass plate, circa 1875, measuring 8.5 x 17 cm, depicting the Fountain of the Lions, Alhambra, Granada, Spain. The Ferrier and Soulier company was founded by Claude-Marie Ferrier (1811-1889) and Charles Soulier (1816-1886) in 1859. It specialized in the production of stereoscopic views. Soulier plates depicted a variety of subjects, including landscapes, monuments, city scenes, and historical events. Stereoscopic glass plates were considered high-quality products and aesthetically superior to paper stereoscopies. They were heavier and more fragile, but offered better image quality and a more immersive viewing experience. Ferrier and Soulier's works are now considered collector's items.
