Silver-plated Coptic priest's cross – Ethiopia, 19th century. An important silver-plated Coptic priest's cross, originating from Ethiopia, characterized by its exquisite openwork and rich religious iconography. The finely cut upper section features a geometric and symbolic design typical of Ethiopian crosses, forming an interlaced network evoking eternity and faith. The long cylindrical handle, engraved with traditional motifs, terminates in a rectangular plaque adorned with a hand-engraved stylized figure. This representation, probably of a saint or sacred figure, is surrounded by cruciform motifs, common in the iconography of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. This type of cross was used by priests for blessing the faithful and during liturgical ceremonies. A very beautiful object, both ethnographic and spiritual, with a striking decorative presence.
