Young Neapolitan Fisherman, Terracotta, Signed Laforesterie, 19th Century
Terracotta sculpture depicting a pensive, nude young Neapolitan fisherman seated on a fishing net, signed on the oval base "Laforesterie" for Louis Edmond Laforesterie (1837-1894), a French sculptor who exhibited at the Salon from 1876 onwards. He notably presented the original marble sculpture, now in the Douai Museum, from which this terracotta was made.
Good condition, tiny chip on the big toe (see photos).
