Pair of large 18th-century East India Company vases in polychrome porcelain, known as "famille rose".

These slender, baluster-shaped vases feature delicate famille rose enamel decoration (a term coined by Jacquemart – but which the Chinese previously called “fencai” (“powdery color”) or, later, “falangcai” (“enamel color”)).

At the center, a large, fully bloomed pink peony, surrounded by small flowers and leafy branches, meticulously painted, stands out against a milky white background with a silky sheen. The softness of the enamels, combined with the precision of the brushwork, lends the whole a great elegance and a remarkable decorative style. This style is characteristic of refined production intended for European export, particularly during the Qing dynasty in the 18th century.

Each piece has been richly adorned with a sumptuous gilt-bronze mount. The neck is lavishly encircled by a pearl necklace. The double-scroll handles, with their finely chiseled rocaille motifs, They delicately follow the baluster shape.

The openwork and undulating base, adorned with scrolling motifs, pearls, and acanthus leaves, enhances the fine porcelain of this high-quality pair.

Its size of 44.5 cm, larger than many Famille Rose pairs of this period, transforms this utilitarian object into a highly decorative piece.

Excellent condition with original gilding
