Coffee Table Signed R. Capron, Les Herbiers Collection, Vallauris – 1960

The tabletop is composed of garrigue tiles made by pressing plants native to the South of France, which, once fired, leave a beautifully detailed charred imprint. Each tile is then sculpted and arranged in a radiating pattern around a central medallion, creating a botanical composition that is both graphic and poetic. The warm hues—ochres, browns, and sienna—evoke the landscapes of the South and lend the whole an autumnal atmosphere. From 1955 onwards, he collaborated closely with his wife, Jacotte, whose influence is evident in the sunny aesthetic of his designs.
