Pierre Pellet – Tropical Village Scene, Watercolor Signed And Dated 1979
Pierre Pellet was a French painter and watercolorist, born in the mid-20th century, who lived in Provence and Réunion Island. He worked as an art teacher and illustrated several books with watercolors of Provence and the French Riviera. This watercolor on paper depicts a scene of life in an Orientalist village, populated by figures, including a woman carrying a load on her head accompanied by children, walking towards traditional dwellings under large, stylized trees. The work is distinguished by a beautiful palette of ochre, green, and brown tones, and by a lively brushstroke reminiscent of travel journals. This work is characteristic of the work of Pierre Pellet, a 20th-century French watercolorist known for his village scenes, Mediterranean landscapes, and scenes of life in Africa and the Indian Ocean. The watercolor is signed at the bottom and dated 1979. It is presented in a modern frame under glass. Image size: 43 x 35 cm. Framed size: 57.5 x 51.5 cm.
