Art Nouveau solid silver paper knife in the form of a bat with outstretched wings.
Signed "Sabatier V" for the sculptor Victorin Sabatier (1873-1922) at the tip of one wing.
Other bat designs, appearing in small objects such as bronze trinket trays, are known from this sculptor, who is not well documented. A member of the Société des Artistes Français, he also created lamps, vases, and sculptures, some in collaboration with the Louchet foundry.
