"Against his family's wishes, Armand Balouzet was encouraged by the painter Leberecht Lortet to go to Switzerland to study. He exhibited for the first time at the Lyon Salon in 1878 and then at the Paris Salon in 1883, where he received a silver medal. He received a second medal in Paris in 1897, and exhibited again in Paris in 1904. (...). His landscapes of the Isère, the Loire, the Alps and the Mediterranean are painted with verve, with harmonious luminous effects achieved through the use of shades of grey.
