A rectangular Art Deco sideboard with softened corners, opening at the front with two hinged doors. The piece is veneered in Macassar ebony, displaying a contrasting grain in deep brown and black tones, enhanced by a glossy varnish that creates a mirror-like effect. The front, structured by a symmetrical composition, is punctuated by the vertical lines of the veneer. The doors are framed by long nickel-plated metal hinges running their full height, emphasizing the vertical grain and guiding the eye towards the gentle curve of the side panels. This linear vocabulary is echoed in the circular nickel-plated metal handles, whose design—a circle pierced by a vertical rod—reflects the lines of the front. The slightly curved side panels soften the silhouette and demonstrate the meticulous craftsmanship typical of French furniture of the 1930s. The slightly overhanging top emphasizes the overall horizontality and extends the lines of the piece. The fully fitted interior is crafted from bird's-eye maple veneer. Its light and lively design contrasts with the depth of the Macassar ebony and highlights the interior organization of shelves and drawers. The piece rests on a discreet base, accentuated by a nickel-plated metal band. French work, circa 1930.
