British Light Cavalry Saddle, World War I
British light cavalry saddle, World War I. Leather, metal, wood, brass, straps. This saddle was given about forty years ago by a Jordanian officer to a French officer. It is believed to have served in the cavalry of the First Arab Army (Sharifian Army) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz, which fought alongside the British cavalry, who supplied them with equipment, against the Ottoman Empire, allied with the Germans. Damascus fell in 1918. The leather is in good condition, with a few wormholes in the wooden frame, but it is very sturdy. A good piece of cavalry equipment from World War I in the Middle East. With its two stirrups. No straps. Approximately 60 x 70 cm.
