Robert Coutelas (1930-1985) – Two Painted Maps/Plaques Dated 1974.
A set of two small painted plaques attributed to Robert Coutelas (1930-1985), an emblematic artist of the Parisian bohemian scene of the 1960s and 70s.
These two pieces feature naive and expressive figures accompanied by handwritten inscriptions:
• “Vaugirard – October 13, 1974” with an animal figure raising its glass
• “Goutelas – January 1974” with a stylized winter figure.
The works refer to the Rue de Vaugirard, the neighborhood where the artist lived and worked, as well as to the Château de Goutelas, an important cultural meeting place in the 1970s.
