Flanders 1650-1700, Solid Silver Christ, In The Style Of Guglielmo Della Porta
Artist: Anonyme
A sublime cast solid silver Corpus Christi dating from the seventeenth century. The high quality and extreme finesse of this work testify to a great level of craftsmanship for the period. The founder/sculptor was undoubtedly inspired by the famous Cristo Morto by Guglielmo della Porta (1500-1577). The two works are 95% identical. The zigzag pattern of silver casting confirms the most likely Flemish origin of this beautiful sculpture. The object is in perfect condition and weighs a very generous 316 grams.
