Art Deco Ceramic, Louis Dage, Circa 1925
Artist: Louis Dage
Louis Dage (1935-1957) Art Deco glazed ceramic from the Antony workshop (1921-1934). Height: 35 cm, diameter: 20 cm. Louis Dage (1885-1961) was a French ceramicist whose career spanned the Paris region and the Landes, where he settled in 1935. He worked notably at the Faïencerie de l'Adour in Saint-Sever and developed a rich and experimental body of work, blending Art Nouveau and Art Deco influences with reinterpretations of Samadet designs. His work is distinguished by the diversity of techniques used—glazes, drips, crackle glazes, and inlays—and by great creative freedom. Long overlooked, he is now being rediscovered as an original figure in 20th-century French ceramics.
