"Odetta Hb Quimper Soliflore Vase"
Very pretty HB Quimper Odetta period vase. Small model, beautiful decoration. Signed under the base HB Quimper Odetta. G58-1047. From the 1910s onwards, Jules Verlingue, then head of the Faïencerie de la Madeleine in Boulogne-sur-Mer, embarked on the adventure of the Decorative Arts. In 1914, he acquired the Faïencerie de la Grande Maison HB in Quimper and began transferring his innovative productions there. Mobilized in Paris, he studied and developed, at the Manufacture nationale de céramique de Sèvres, a range of high-fire stoneware. In 1922, this range was named Odetta in reference to the clay used, which came from the banks of the Odet, the river that flows through the city of Quimper. Production began on March 29, 1926, and Quimper ceramics were about to experience one of the richest creative periods in its history. No fewer than six hundred models were created. The result is a wealth of forms and decorations in a style far removed from traditional production. This production, long ignored by collectors, is now enjoying its moment of glory and well-deserved recognition.
