Large Double-bodied Dresser In Light Oak – Regional Work In The Louis XV Style, 19th Century
A large, double-bodied dresser in light oak, opening with two doors in the upper section and resting on a lower section composed of two small drawers in the frieze above two wide drawers. The upper section features an elegant, molded cornice in a gendarme's hat shape, with flowing lines inspired by the Louis XV style.
The doors, with their simple panels, are adorned with brass keyhole escutcheons and an antique key. The interior, painted in a pale blue tone, is fitted with shelves for displaying earthenware and decorative objects, offering a refined contrast to the warmth of the oak. The well-proportioned lower section is punctuated by a series of drawers with molded fronts, fitted with brass handles and keyhole escutcheons, resting on a carved base.
A regional French piece from the 19th century, this dresser is in the tradition of Louis XV-inspired dressers, with a sober and functional execution typical of the artisanal production of this period. It has a beautiful patina from use, and is in sound and harmonious condition.
