"Circular Wrought Iron Tree Bench, France, Late 19th Century"
A rare, patinated wrought iron circular park bench, known as a "tree bench," formed by two semicircles joined around a trunk. The bench consists of curved slats riveted to vertical supports, resting on arched, flat wrought iron legs. The joints are made using hot riveting, typical of 19th-century craftsmanship. The upper section is adorned with scrolls that elegantly terminate the backrest, adding a decorative touch while highlighting the craftsmanship. The surface displays a beautiful natural oxidation patina, blending warm browns and verdigris, a testament to its time spent outdoors. An authentic piece of antique garden furniture, both decorative and functional, perfect for surrounding a centuries-old tree or gracing an estate driveway. This type of circular bench was common in 19th-century romantic parks, often placed around linden or plane trees, inviting contemplation in the shade of the tall trees. Seat height 41cm
