Lithograph by the artist André Minaux, dating from the 1970s. Artist's proof numbered 7/20 and signed Minaux. A second lithograph can be seen on the website. André Minaux (1923-1986) was a French painter, engraver, illustrator, sculptor, and draftsman. A former student of the École des Arts Décoratifs, he studied under Maurice Brianchon and Roland Oudot. He belonged to the illustrious École de Paris, the Jeune Peinture movement in the 1950s, and later to the Peintres Témoins de leur temps group. André Minaux illustrated the works of some of the greatest writers: André Gide, Blaise Cendrars, Marguerite Duras, Julien Gracq, and others. He participated in the 1948 Salon d'Automne, where he met Maurice Mourlot, brother of the master lithographer Fernand Mourlot. The renowned studio was frequented by leading contemporary painters such as Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, Léger, and Braque.
