18th Century - Sculpture "the Paschal Lamb And The Seven Seals"
An exceptional 18th-century religious decorative piece depicting "The Paschal Lamb and the Seven Seals." Exquisite wood carving, entirely gilded. Historical Note: John receives a vision of Christ who asks him: "Write what you have seen?" Christ, majestic and clothed in white, with the sword of the word in his mouth, speaks: "In heavenly worship arises the mysterious Paschal Lamb, the only one worthy to open the book of divine plans, sealed with seven seals. At the opening of the first six seals, plagues fall upon the wicked. Jesus Christ appears to Saint John; the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven candlesticks are the churches. Jesus Christ, under the symbol of the lamb, takes the book, and to open it, the seven spirits are sent throughout the earth."
