Antique French Medals / Bronze – O. De Serres, French Alpine Club, Crédit Français
A set of three French bronze medals, late 19th – early 20th century, preserved in their original cases. The first medal pays homage to Olivier de Serres (1539–1619), considered the father of French agriculture. It features fine engraving by the medalist Daniel Dupuis, with an allegorical scene of the Republic rewarding agricultural work on the reverse. The second, rarer medal, is a personal medal from the French Alpine Club (founded in 1874), awarded to "P. Chevalier." It illustrates various rural and agricultural scenes, reflecting activities and competitions in mountainous regions. The third is an Art Deco medal from Crédit Français, adorned with a female profile and floral motifs symbolizing prosperity and the financing of the economy. A beautiful decorative and historical set, representative of French agricultural and institutional awards from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
