Rosewood Travel Case, Paris, 19th Century. Superb rosewood travel case with discreet brass stringing, the interior lined with midnight blue velvet and moiré silk. Signed inside "Peret, R. Montmorency St Martin 19 Paris," a Parisian firm renowned for its luxury goods in the 19th century. This complete case comprises several cut-glass bottles and boxes, all mounted in solid silver (Minerva hallmark), as well as toiletries (scissors, hook, accessories with bone handles, engraved case, etc.). The lid conceals a removable mirror hidden in a secret compartment. Beneath the top tray, additional storage compartments hold personal belongings. All items are monogrammed MD. A beautiful and refined travel object, combining utility and elegance, typical of Parisian luxury in the second half of the 19th century. Dimensions: 27.5 × 20 × 15.5 cm.
