This artist, Jasper de Hemeler (1587-1637 Mechelen), began his career as a pupil in 1608 and opened his own workshop a few years later, where he worked until 1632.
This religious plaque, the work of his master, most likely depicts an interpretation of the Last Supper. It features beautiful gilded details and high-quality carving, characteristic of De Hemeler's style.
The object is in reasonable/fair condition for an antique over 400 years old.
It sits in an oak frame, almost certainly it's original.
The plaque shows some soiling, small losses, as well as cracks and fissures.
