18th Century Trumeau
Magnificent 18th-century carved oak trumeau, Louis XV period. Exceptional carving. Some old losses. Antique mercury mirror. 2.10m x 1.10m. The panel is very dirty and needs restoration. It was likely part of a larger wood paneling arrangement. The history of this trumeau is unusual. During the fire at the Châlette-sur-Loing paper mill in 1892, it was evacuated from the director's château and stored in a nearby farmhouse. It has remained there continuously ever since.
